2. Overview
wotnware is a mobile app (Android/iOS) with an accompanying website that lets users discover events, reviews and discussions around them on a map, create their own and get in touch with other users. This privacy policy explains which personal data is processed, for what purpose and on which legal basis.
3. Data we process
3.1 Account data
When registering we collect username, e-mail address and password (stored only as a hash). Optionally you may provide first name, last name, date of birth, gender, city/country and a profile picture.
3.2 Location data
The core function of the app is showing content around you. For this purpose – after your consent via the operating system – your device location is processed. In the settings you decide whether friends may see your location. Without location access the map works only in a limited way.
3.3 Content
Events, reviews, discussion posts, reactions, photos and voice messages you create are stored and – depending on visibility settings – shown to other users. Content may be translated automatically into other languages.
3.4 Messages
Direct messages between users (text, images, audio) are stored on our servers to deliver and synchronise them across devices. End-to-end encryption is currently not in place.
3.5 Friendships and online status
Friend requests, friend lists and – if enabled – your online status are processed to provide the social features.
3.6 Technical data and device security
When accessing our servers we log IP address, timestamp, app version and device type. To prevent abuse the app checks device integrity (e.g. root/jailbreak detection, device attestation). Identifiers created in this process are used solely for security.
3.7 Reports
If you report content or users, we store the report including your reasoning in order to review it and take action where necessary.
4. Purposes and legal bases
- Providing the app and performing the contract – Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR
- Location-based features – Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent via the system permission, revocable at any time)
- Security, abuse and fraud prevention – Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR
- Compliance with legal obligations – Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR
5. Recipients and processors

Transfers to countries outside the EU/EEA only take place where an adequate level of data protection is ensured (e.g. EU standard contractual clauses).
6. Retention
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Content and messages are removed or anonymised when the account is deleted, unless statutory retention obligations apply. Server logs are deleted after no more than [PLACEHOLDER: 30] days.
7. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You may withdraw any consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
You can delete your account yourself at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account. For any other request contact privacy@wotnware.com.
8. Minors
Using wotnware is permitted from the age of [PLACEHOLDER: 16].
9. Website
When visiting this website, technically necessary access data (IP address, time, requested page, browser) is processed briefly in server logs. No tracking or marketing cookies are used.
10. Changes
We update this privacy policy whenever our data processing changes. The current version is always available at www.wotnware.com/en/privacy.
