Some connections are meant to last, even after the chat that started them has long since faded away. That's what friendship is for: the one lasting connection on Wotnware. But really, only the connection itself is lasting – individual messages still disappear after 24 hours, even between friends.
Friendship in three steps
- Send a request: In an open chat or through a profile, you can send a friend request. The other person gets it as a system message.
- Wait for a decision: Only the requested person can accept or decline. You're only friends once it's accepted; a declined request otherwise changes nothing.
- Stay connected: As friends, you can message each other anytime, see each other in your friends lists, and – if location sharing is on – see each other as "friends nearby" on the map.
What stays, and what still goes
- An open friend request stays in place until it's accepted or declined; its system message disappears on its own after 30 days.
- An accepted friendship stays in place until either person deletes their account.
- Text, images and voice messages between friends are still deleted 24 hours after being sent.
- A friendship doesn't automatically give insight into your location – it's only visible when the respective sharing setting is on.
That's how friendship connects you for the long term, without turning into a permanent chat history.
